Advantages to Build Your Own Boat from Fibreglass
1. The cost of actually maintaining a boat constructed from fibreglass is far less. As well as there being no likelihood of the hull rotting as would occur with a wooden one should it not be properly protected. But there is unlikely to be any problem with the boats central balance should it be knocked as would occur with an aluminum boat.

2. As the hull is one continuous piece so the time it takes to assemble such a boat will take less time than it would if you use choose to construct yours from wood or aluminum. Plus of course as there are no seams to the hull the chances of it leaking is greatly reduced.
3. Unlike wooden or aluminum boats if you build your own boat from fibreglass it won’t be affected by moisture in the climate. This is as a result of the material being inert in water and so won’t be affected by the same problems as the other boats would.
4. The actual time it takes to build a fibreglass boat is around about a quarter of the time it would take to construct a wooden one. This means that in a matter of weeks you can have the boat of your dreams and using it.
5. There are no specific skills you will need to construct a boat from fibreglass. All one will need to do is have some basic training that will show you how to create the mold and then how to place the fibreglass in it.

1. You cannot just use any kind of fibreglass for the boat. In many cases the fibreglass you need may have to import it in. So you will need to make sure that you have a place where this material can be got from before you even get your plans.
